Work for MiW!
In addition to my experiments and final project, I had the opportunity to do a lot of different writing exercises throughout the semester!
This is the curio cabinet that I created showing some of my favorite literary characters who have supported my learning and development as I have grown. Looking back, there are a few more women I would add but overall I believe that the analysis that I did for this project was extremely thorough and comprehensive relating to my experiences and each character's traits. This was based on a curio cabinet that MiW student Kelsey Walworth created.
Lit Women
This is a writing response that I did at some point during the course (I, unfortunately, did not write the date or the prompt). I have always loved free writing, even in high school when we had to write continuously for minutes. This summer I hope to challenge myself to organically use writing prompts to do free writing, rather than wait for it to be assigned from a teacher. I also love reading these back and recognizing that it doesn't have to be perfect, it is just a way to get my thoughts out which is a great exercise under many circumstances. (I recognize that my handwriting isn't the best so below is the transcription)
Warmth
Writing response (in-class)
Warmth is something we usually associate with the outside. Both the outside of our indoors but also the outside of our bodies and how we prep for when the outside of our indoors is not "warm." But I have begun to look at it as an inner phenomena. Something inside of me alights when I drink a scalding cup of hot chocolate and I instantly feel like something beautiful has unfurled within me, at ease. The feeling of reading a happy ending so moving that you smile to yourself because you just can't help it. Knowing that you made someone laugh by being inexcusably you.

Heartwarming is a phrase I use often times with wholesome because I believe that warming the heart is sometimes not as prioritized as warming the body, despite needing it to feel whole.

There are many times where trying to warm your heart does not feel possible. There are too many things burdening your body, mind, or both that is keeping you frozen, at a standstill. And for that, because everyone has those moments it is important to know what has warmed you before. For me it is watching a disney movie (Encanto) with people that make my heart light or reading a book that I love (I'll give you the sun) or making my brother re-experience Gilmore Girls with me. The same thing does not, and in fact cannot, work for everyone but everyone deserves some warmth inside of them.
